 | Fauna and flora are extremely diverse in the Guadiana and its branches, and there are several species of fish, birds and reptiles. The Guadiana was the last portuguese river where the king sole and the sturgeon were present, until the late seventies when the last ones were caught. The sole was even portraied in coins minted in Mertola during the first century b.c. The bird fauna is one of the best represented goups in the National Park of the Guadiana Valley (PNVG). Prey birds nest on the hills by the river banks. In this habitat you can also find "black storks". The river, dams and endless fields invite you to envigorating walks. Golf, so relaxing and healthy, is very near allowing unique moments of outstanding rest. The proximity to the pitoresque village of Vila Real de Santo António, with its restaurants and outdoor areas, allow you a well spent time, and its modern marina is an ideal departing point to navigate the Guadiana. |
